We would like to thank everyone for their patience as we waited for
this situation to unfold. It is our goal to serve our community and state in
whatever fashion we are asked during this crisis as we enter our 41st
season of great public golf here at Sugar Isle. We must not only weigh the
potential risk to those on the course, but also those they encounter off
premises or return home to. With that in mind the decision was made to
delay the season until we had clarification from health officials regarding
The Stay At Home Order.

• March 23, 2020 – The Stay At Home Order begins with no distinction as
to whether golf is defined as a Public Amusement under Section 3:
Prohibited Activities or exempted under the Section 5c: Outdoor
Activities provision.

• March 26, 2020 – The Ohio Department of Health confirms that golf
courses are “non-essential businesses with no exemption under Section
5C and are to remain closed under the Director’s orders”.

• March 29, 2020 – The Ohio Department of Health states that their
“position is evolving” regarding golf courses and that it is permitted to
be open but emphasizes the “outdoor recreation” aspect.

In the spirit of this new directive to offer outdoor recreation for Ohio’s
citizens we will open the course beginning on Wednesday April 8, 2020. In
order to reduce common touch points and continue assisting with
flattening the curve as Governor DeWine has asked we will be walking only
at this time. We will offer our Course Members who wish to Stay At Home
the option to postpone their memberships and extend their due dates.
Please contact us to make arrangements. As this situation is ever
changing, and carries a significant impact on public health, we will
reevaluate our policies and course status weekly. Any adjustments
planned for the following week will be posted here every Monday by
4:00pm and take effect that Wednesday.

For any player wishing to enjoy outdoor recreation and return to the
simpler beginnings of our game please see the Safe Playing Procedures
tab on the menu bar. To further accessibility we will be offering both 9 and
18 hole rounds to non members for $1 per hole played. The first hour of
our 20 min spaced tee sheet each day will be reserved for golfers 50 and
older to assure them the utmost safety possible. There will also be a
special $5 junior rate (17 & Under) from 4:00-6:00 PM when accompanied
by a paying adult who resides in their household. Please be respectful of
the Safe Playing Procedures, course staff, and each other at all times.
We wish all of you the best of health as we weather these coming days
together.

Sincerely,

Todd Smart / President

Justin Stringfield / General Manager
